Traveling can be stressful. To limit your possible stress in the airport, check out our handy list below. We have compiled some of our most helpful tips in making your next trip through the airport fly by.
-
Make sure you don't pack any prohibited items. Visit http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information or http://www.dot.gov/airconsumer/air-travel-tips for rules and regulations regarding acceptable items.
-
Leave gifts unwrapped. If you wrap gifts you purchase, or take abroad, they may be unwrapped by officials in order to search content.
-
Give the metal detectors a break. Avoid wearing clothing, jewelry, and accessories that will trip the detectors and slow you down when you travel. You can put metal items in your carry-on bag for even quicker access.
-
Know the 1+1 rule. Carry-on baggage is usually limited to one carry-on bag plus one personal item. Personal items can include: laptops, purses, small backpacks, briefcases, or camera cases.
-
Identify yourself. You should keep your photo ID and boarding pass with you and easily accessible from the time you enter the airport until you board the plane.
-
Identify your baggage. Place identification tags in and on all of your baggage. Also, place identification on personal items such as laptops, iPads, and other valuables.
